Can I test a speed control (ESC) with the ServoXciter EF?
Yes, the ServoXciter EF can -*test*-('") an electronic speed control (ESC). For speed controls with battery eliminating circuitry (BEC). - Remove the 9-volt battery from the ServoXciter EF. - Plug the ESC connector into the SERVO port of the ServoXciter EF. - Plug your standard battery pack into the ESC. - Plug the motor into the ESC. - Switch the ESC ON. The speed control's BEC will power the ServoXciter EF. The display's contrast will most likely be darker than normal if your speed control's BEC outputs more than 5 volts (don't do this if your BEC outputs more than 6 volts). *This method has two drawbacks - the power button won't turn OFF the ServoXciter, and the current meter features will not work. For speed controls without battery eliminating circuitry (BEC). - Plug the ESC connector into the SERVO port of the ServoXciter EF. - Plug your standard battery pack into the ESC. - Plug the motor into the ESC. - Turn the ServoXciter EF ON. - Switch the ESC ON. Use the ServoXciter EF's control knob to control contro the output of the speed control. If your speed control has an idle detection safety feature make certain that the control knob is in the minimum position before powering the speed control.
